What was your family of origin like?
Where did you fit in? Were you the oldest, youngest, sibling? What do you remember about your family? What were you parents like? Were you a planned pregnancy? You can begin to put the pieces of this puzzle together and you may begin to see areas where something from your own childhood is affecting you today. It could be brushed off as nonsense, irrational and uneventful, yet these may be the areas you need to work on and heal if you want to be the change, and break the cycle. These are the areas where you may be stuck. When a child experiences events in their lives, these experiences, have more impact on the child than they would on an adult. They don't necessarily have to be what we as the adult would called major negative events. They could be very trivial to us, yet seen from a child's eyes, these events may look and feel very traumatic. Now imagine a child who is constantly living in a battle field (of arguments), imagine a sexually abused child, a physically abused child; All of these events are traumatic, and if as a child these situations are not healed, they get stored in our sub conscious mind, and they do get played out over and over until we as Adults do heal them. This is when you may need the help of a professional counselor.Someone who will help you see the pattern.
