Can you see yourself in any of these Destructive Self Talk examples ?
Postivie Self Talk
is very different from
Destructive Self Talk
and these
positive habits,
are what you can begin to master very well. Most people tend to not give some of these examples a second thought, yet the truth is your thoughts create your reality, every second of the day. The list below is just a few examples, and your first thoughts as you read them may lead you to think about someone else in your life who you perceive is this way. I encourage you to focus on you. All-or Nothing Thinking: You see things in black-and-white-categories. Something is either right or wrong with nothing in between. If your performance falls "short of perfect," you see yourself as a total failure. Over generalization: You see a single negative event as a never-ending pattern of defeat, and you see it as being the way things will always be for you. Disqualifying the Positive: Whenever anything good happens, you reject these positive experiences by insisting they "don't count" for some reason or another. In this way you can maintain a negative belief that is contradicted by your everyday experiences. You have a hard time seeing the good, because you may be afraid it will never last. Jumping to Conclusions: You make a negative interpretation even though there are no definite facts that convincingly support your conclusions. This one can also be broken down again into 2 sub categories: a)Mind Reading- You arbitrarily conclude that someone is reacting negatively to you, and you don't bother to check this out. b) The Fortune Teller Error- You anticipate that things will turn out badly, and you feel convinced that your prediction is an already-established fact. All of these
destructive self talk examples
stem from Fear, and You have the power to change it all.
