The Confidence Game,

It takes confidence to move ahead at work. It takes confidence to move ahead period.

The Confidence Game, which I must confess, I stole from the Transition's Program which I was a student of, is an interesting game to play.

When I first read the confidence game, it brought up a whole bunch of other issues, and observations for me.

You see, I've always used the excuse that

"English is a second language for me, therefore my vocabulary is limited, I don't always say the phrases correctly, and it's not my fault".

I felt this was a great excuse, and it let me off the hook so to speak. Writing, and speaking the right way, or the correct way has always been a struggle for me. Making myself understood, and making my intention clear was and still is a process.

Do you see any self limiting beliefs, and reasons, and excuses in that paragraph? . Me too!

Truth is I get it now, and I play the game almost every time I open my mouth.....O K I still forget, and when I do, I pick up on the reminders fairly quickly!

It's all about Communication, and it's a must to learn to communicate clearly. Once I started, and continue with this it becomes self explanatory.

This game initially made me think of the many different roles I played in my own life. It made me also see how once we have portrayed our so called mask it becomes very difficult to make the changes. This part of the game which is very different from the confidence game is another topic all together, yet it is also part of this game, and has more to do with how we are seen by others because of the masks we've created. The role of a wife, mother, friend, and worker, We all act differently depending on who we are with.Because this game was introduced to us as pertaining to work, and in the context of career explorations which was my reason for attending the program in the first place. I connected to the fact that we all wear different masks, we all play the game at some level in the course of our day.

One of my thoughts, which is reinforced and will continue to be reinforced daily was I accept that we all wear different masks, and we all play the confidence game to an extent. Yet the words that come out of our own mouth at times can so quickly deflate that confidence. It is deflated first by ourselves, and reflected back to us by who ever is facing us. Our mirrors, our teachers. Click here to start playing The Confidence Game Another interesting observation, which is off topic is the way we speak and act around different people.

I for one, have noticed how I treat total strangers for the most part, with more respect than I would treat people I may already know well. (My own Family). We act and treat our co workers differently, and so on.

This was the way I used to live my life, and it is still very normal to fall back into this. There is a difference now, that wasn't there before. The more I practice, and play this game the better I get.

Here are the 10 tips All you have to do is play the confidence game!

See for yourself Practice makes it happen. At first you find yourself really needing to concentrate and then just like driving a car,you begin to be aware of the words coming out of your mouth! An interesting and aware game that you can play anywhere you like, and no one will know! Just Believe
